"One of the most excellent eclectic efforts

I have listened to in a long time,

maybe forever." - Arthur Gonick,

WSPN (Saratoga Springs NY)

"When [Stolie] focuses her prodigious talents (she played all of the guitar, piano and bass on the new disc, programming everything else with her computer) on endearingly skewed pop songs that keep the spotlight on her wispy vocals and literary eye for lyrical details, it's hard to deny that she's the real stuff."

- Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times

Between the Fake and Real

Release Date: March 18, 2008

Screaming Galaxy Records

Catalog #: SGR006

Stolie’s third solo release, Between the Fake and Real, is the pop/rock album she had been threatening to complete for nearly four years.  Following 2004’s Satire-Laden Melodies, Between highlights Stolie’s lengthy career and broad songwriting ability; the 13 previously-unreleased original songs range from pop, jazz, rap, latin, country and rock.

Between the Fake and Real has been a long-time coming labor of love; since the entire album was recorded in her Chicago home with Apple’s Garageband program, Between had been steadily coming to fruition for almost two years.  While some effects are the result of technology (programmed drums, strings, etc.), Stolie performs here on guitar, piano, bass, harmonica, tambourine and all vocals.

The songs showcase Stolie’s multi-genre songwriting ability and span a collection of tunes written over a decade’s time.  “I Owe You Nothing” was composed in her flat in London in 1998 while studying abroad; “Humpty Dumpty” took form in a kitchen in Logan Square in 2001 and “I Got Your Back,” the newest song on the disc, found itself in October of 2007, just before the album’s release.

Chicago’s musical renaissance woman has amassed more than 20 years combined experience as a musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and publicist.  Since establishing her own company, Screaming Galaxy LLC, in 2007, she has been playing music fulltime.
