Between the Fake and Real features 13 previously-unreleased original songs that highlight Stolie’s wide-ranging, multi-genre-tapping songwriting ability. You’ll hear some pop, jazz, rap, latin, a little country, and of course - rock! On this album, Stolie performs on guitar, piano, bass, harmonica, tambourine and vocals. Everything else you hear (drums, effects, strings, etc.) are the result of Apple’s Garageband program. WXRT DJ Richard Milne crooned, "there are some extraordinary tracks here,” and Chicago Sun-Times music writer Jim DeRogatis declared “when [Stolie] focuses her prodigious talents and literary eye for lyrical details, it's hard to deny that she's the real stuff."

Satire-Laden Melodies

Satire-Laden Melodies features Stolie’s original folk material in an electronic setting with pop synth beats driving the songs and Stolie’s haunting vocals slithering on top. “You Flatter Me,” “Skin” and a second version of the title track also appear in acoustic renditions.

Stolie’s self-titled album featured 10 tracks written during her time as a college student -- from ‘96 in Bloomington, IL to a study abroad in London, England in ‘98 and landing in Chicago in 2000 to finish her college experience at an urban studies program in Chicago as well as her first album of original material. The relationships built during this time found a prolific songwriter with the need to document her tracks in true form.
