"There are some extraordinary tracks here."
Richard Milne, WXRT (Chicago)
"One of the most excellent eclectic efforts I have listened to in a long time, maybe forever." - Arthur Gonick, WSPN (Saratoga Springs NY)
"When [Stolie] focuses her prodigious talents (she played all of the guitar, piano and bass on the new disc, programming everything else with her computer) on endearingly skewed pop songs that keep the spotlight on her wispy vocals and literary eye for lyrical details, it's hard to deny that she's the real stuff." - Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times.
Biography
Stolie's world of music began when she was six and started piano lessons. At sixteen, she learned two chords on the guitar and wrote her first original song.
While attending Illinois Wesleyan University as a Music Education major, Stolie realized her desire to perform, switched her major to English to work on writing (songwriting, that is) and studied a year abroad in London where she began performing for loose change in the Tube and for real money at folk clubs. Twelve years later, Stolie has released four albums of original music; her latest, Between the Fake and Real, was featured on WXRT in Chicago in March of 2008. Hear the interview!
Stolie has worked as a publicist and radio promoter for Bloodshot Records and Call Girl PR, toured the country in support of her original music, plays in two acoustic duos (The Acoustic Sideshow with Scott Schaefer plays covers and as Stolie & Gonzalez with Gina Gonzalez performing originals and covers), teaches guitar and piano lessons, plays weekly children's shows at Fantasy Kingdom as well as private events and birthday parties, is currently host to three weekly open mics and most recently started working as a wedding DJ for Cage & Aquarium Productions. Stolie is Chicago's Musical Renaissance Woman!
